The reason for the increased fuel prices

Global fuel costs have been escalating like no end over the past few years. And whether you believe it or not, these escalating costs are all the consequences of action of consumers like you and me!

The most logical and evident reason for the rise in fuel costs is the increased demand for fuel. Though the demand for fuel has increased, its supply has not increased. So making both ends meet proves to be rather difficult for the different countries. And now one wonders how the demand for fuel has increased.

The main reason is because today, each household has more vehicles guzzling fuel than there were ten years ago. Moreover, the vehicles around today like SUVs and high engine capacity vehicles all use more fuel than the ordinary cars do.

In addition to this, not only developed countries, but developing countries like China, India and Russia too are growing with huge appetites for oil, fuel and basic commodities. All this amounts to more and more shipments and deliveries to be made while transporting goods.

More people are traveling today, so more packed flights to hotels that run with the help of oil. Houses are built far away from work places, making it necessary for people to commute instead of walking to their destination.

In addition to all this increased demand for fuels, there are always problems in the refinery outputs of Nigeria and Middle East. And though the demand for fuel has increased trifold in US, the country has not managed to build a new refinery since 1976!
