Hybrid cars may be assisted by electric motors

More and more people are today considering buying and using hybrid cars to help cut down fuel costs and to do their bit in controlling global warming. These hybrid cars are basically cars that work not solely on fuel, but with some other source of energy.

There are two engines working together in hybrid cars. One is a standard gas powered engine, and the other is an electric motor that is assisted by a rechargeable battery pack made of nickel metal hybrid.

Not only do these hybrid cars help to cut down fuel costs, this combination of gas and hybrid technology is environmentally friendly as there is a reduced amount of exhaust emissions from its engine. Moreover, these cars also provide you with a higher gas mileage to give you more worth for the money you pay for your fuel.

These hybrid cars should however, not be confused with electric vehicles as these cars are basically as powered cars that are assisted with an electrical motor. This is unlike electric vehicles which are powered solely by electric power.

There are many hybrid vehicles in the market today besides hybrid cars, including hybrid SUVs and hybrid trucks. Some examples of the more popular hybrid cars are Lexus RX 400h hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid and Ford Escape Hybrid.
